Victoria Monét wins Best New Artist at the 2024 Grammy Awards

Victoria Monét is officially a 2024 Grammy winner.
The breakout bisexual singer/songwriter had a huge 2023 with the release of her debut album Jaguar II, and now she’s followed it up by winning the Grammy Award for Best New Artist at the 2024 Grammys, as. well as two other awards.
In her speech for Best New Artist, she said, "To everybody who has a dream, I want you to look at this as evidence. This award was a 15-year pursuit."
Monét was up for a total of seven nominations at tonight’s ceremony, and was previously nominated for three Grammys for her work as a songwriter on Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next, and Chloe x Halle’s “Do It.”

Some of the other categories Monét was nominated in tonight include Best R&B Song and Record of the Year for “On My Mama,” Best R&B Performance for “How Does It Make You Feel,” and Best R&B Album for Jaguar II.
She won for Best R&B Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
Other queer winners of the award for Best New Artist include Megan Thee Stallion in 2021, Billie Eilish in 2020, Sam Smith in 2015, Shelby Lynne in 2001, Paula Cole in 1998, and Tracy Chapman in 1989.
