Victoria Beckham won’t ‘skip meals’ in front of her kids: ‘They need to see that their mum eats healthily’

Victoria Beckham has revealed how becoming a mother changed her eating habits.

The 45-year-old businesswoman and fashion designer said she realized the importance of being a role model to her children, including daughter Harper, 8 — which meant she stopped skipping meals when she was around them.

“When you have children, it puts a lot into perspective,” she said in an interview with the autumn-winter 2019 edition of Glamour U.K., which features her on the cover. “You realize they notice everything. I would never sit down with my kids and skip a meal.”

“They need to see that their mum eats healthily — you need to show little people how to be healthy and happy with who they are,” she continued.

The comments come shortly after she was criticized by some of her Instagram followers for allowing Harper to pose alongside catwalk models at her London Fashion Week show over the weekend.

“Not a healthy body image for a young girl to be mixing with,” wrote one person, while another added, “I think she needs a day surrounded by normal-sized women.”

Beckham has previously spoken about her struggles with body image. In her book Learning to Fly, she revealed she struggled with both anorexia and bulimia.

"In the gym, instead of checking my posture or position, I was checking the size of my bottom, or to see if my double chin was getting any smaller," she wrote.

In the cover interview, the former Spice Girls singer also revealed she was bullied at school, an experience which affected how she raises Harper.

“I was bullied a lot at school, mentally and physically, and the fact that I can talk to Harper about that and how girls should be kind to girls … I use my own experiences,” she told Glamour U.K.
