It's no secret that I'm a massive fan of Victoria Beckham's beauty line. The Future Lash mascara is one of my all-time favorites, and we even named the Satin Kajal Jewel Liner one of the best beauty products of 2022. Her makeup and skincare combines the best of luxury and clean beauty—pigmented and long-wearing formulas with better-for-you ingredients housed in sleek, eco-chic packaging.

Smoky eyes are one of Beckham's signature looks, which is why she first launched the brand with sooty shadow palettes and smudgy liner. For those of us who prefer something foolproof, today she is dropping EyeWear, her runway-inspired take on creamy eyeshadow sticks.

Ahead, BAZAAR.com catches up with Beckham to learn all about this latest launch.

Each product you release is so thoughtfully designed. What were some of the goals and challenges with creating a shadow stick? Was a stick format something customers were asking for vs. the palettes and pots?

Thank you so much—my goal with every product is to create something that I truly want to use, that challenges beauty standards and is high-performing, cleanly formulated, and sustainably minded.

For EyeWear, I was inspired by a contour stick a makeup artist once used on my eyes, but I wanted a shadow that was easy to use and just as creamy and blendable as my Satin Kajal Liners. The stick format really appeals to me as I’ve always loved drawing—applying EyeWear is as easy as coloring with a crayon, whether it’s with a brush or your fingers!

One of the challenges was developing a formula that is completely clean, nothing like the eyeshadow stick of years past, while ensuring it was long-lasting. EyeWear’s staying power is truly amazing, once you apply, you have 20-30 seconds to play with the formula before it sets and doesn’t budge for hours! It remains smudge-proof, crease-proof, and fade-proof for eight hours with no touch-ups required, and it’s formulated with clean ingredients to ensure comfortable and safe wear around the eyes.

Walk me through how you landed on these shades. Were they inspired by any specific piece in your fashion collection?

When designing a fashion collection, I love to mix unexpected colors (it’s become my signature twist!), and I have a similar approach when it comes to beauty. I want the color palette to be fun and flattering, with a surprising clash and combination of shades to create personality. I also wanted to ensure that the assortment featured a range of nuanced shades and finishes—both statement pieces and basics—so that this one product could be used to create endless looks, from an all over wash of color, to a sultry smoky eye.

What is your favorite shade from the new shadow stick collection and how do you apply it?

Picking a favorite shade is so difficult, and, as always, really depends on the occasion. For an everyday look, I often use EyeWear in Trench, a rich matte beige, to create my base, and then add in Pecan, a deep matte brown, to sculpt and contour my eye. For a sophisticated evening look, I love pairing Bottle Green—a shimmery, deep khaki green—with Oyster, a gorgeous pearl shade. And with any occasion, I’ll use Oyster in my inner corner and as a highlight under my brow bone, for additional shine and dimension.

You are always on the forefront of major trends in both fashion and beauty. You were an early adopter of Bader, for example.

My dream is to create a fashion and beauty house of the future—I have a strong focus on really looking at the formulas I’m using, and making sure everything is innovative, with clean ingredient technology that performs at an extremely high level.

What is Gen Z getting right and wrong about ‘90s and early ‘00s beauty and fashion?

I love that the '90s nude lip is back. To spice up my look, I line my lips with Lip Definer in shade 04—two tones darker than my natural lip tone—to add more definition and give the illusion of a fuller pout. To finish the look, I dab on Posh Gloss for a high shine finish. My favorite shade is Poolside.

How do you switch up your look—makeup, hair, and fashion—when you’re in Miami vs. London?

When I am in Miami, I love a fresh and even editorial look. My Posh Lipstick shade Alter Ego really embodies this. While I tend to go for a signature nude lip, my time in Miami inspired this flashy, bright pink statement lip. For the Eyewear shadow stick, my London look would feature Trench and Pecan for a classic smoky eye, and in Miami, I am not afraid to add a pop of color with Macaron or Sunflower.

I think the best part of a shadow stick is how quickly you can apply it. As a new mom myself that’s so key. When you only have a few minutes to get ready, what are the go-to VBB products you reach for and why?

That was a big consideration when we were creating EyeWear—I wanted the eyeshadow stick to be slim and easy to use, while still feeling luxury.

When I’m in a hurry to get ready, I’ll never skip out on my sacred skincare routine. I’ll start any look with my VB x Augustinus Bader Cell Rejuvenating Power Serum and Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer for that foundation-free radiance! I’ll swipe on my Cheeky Posh blush stick for a flush of color (the shade range is so versatile I’ll grab the closest shade near me), and my Reflect Highlighter Stick for an additional glass-like glow on the high points of my face. I’ll always finish off with my Instant Brightening Waterline Pencil (the perfect neutral waterline pencil!), which immediately makes me look so awake, and then use any shade of my Bitten Lip Tint for a quick, subtle flush of color.
