Victoria Beckham has received what is perhaps the best belated birthday present ever. Two days after celebrating her 43rd, Beckham arrived at the investiture ceremony in Buckingham Palace in a chic (and rather modest) black knit midi-length dress to receive an Order of the British Empire, an honor that rewards contributions to the arts and sciences and recognizes philanthropic work, from Prince William.

“It was an absolute pleasure to be at Buckingham Palace today. I'm proud to be British, honored and humbled to receive my OBE from the Duke of Cambridge,” Beckham said, according to BBC News. “If you dream big and work hard you can accomplish great things. I'm so happy to share this very special occasion with my parents and husband; without their love and support, none of this would be possible.”

In the last 17 years, Beckham has built herself a fashion empire, establishing herself as a celebrated designer (and consequently, shedding her pop star image in the process) through her in-demand designs, flagship store openings in London and Hong Kong, one very buzzy Target collaboration (that included both children’s and extended sizes—both firsts for her), and her incredible presence at New York Fashion Week. And ever since she was appointed the UNAIDS International Goodwill Ambassador in 2014, she’s raised awareness with her World AIDS Day T-shirt and charity missions to Africa.

The designer joins a long list of celebrities who have been appointed to the OBE, including husband David Beckham (who received his in 2003), Vivienne Westwood, Julie Andrews, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Congratulations, VB!
