Vet Technician Finds Injured Puppy Outside Kentucky Humane Society in Heartbreaking Clip

Animal shelters around the country are already overcrowded with more animals being brought in versus animals getting adopted. We're ever-so hopeful that more people will see the benefits of adopting a pet, but after seeing this clip from a Kentucky shelter, our hope diminishes.

A vet technician at the Kentucky Humane Society, known on TikTok as @kyhumane, was greeted at work with a heartbreaking surprise. Someone left an injured puppy outside the lobby. Ugh, grab a tissue for this one.

Ugh, we can't stop crying. This is so awful, but we are glad they are helping Cowboy. We wish more people would reach out for help instead of dropping animals off like this at shelters.

The Kentucky Humane Society updated TikToker users with Cowboy's progress. He went through an amputation surgery on his front leg which was severely broken, but that didn't stop his perseverance. The best part of his story is that he was adopted! Cowboy is living his best life in his forever home.

The unfortunate reality is that there are plenty of people who abandoned animals like this. Thankfully, there are kind people in the world who step in and save these animals. It's not an easy task, but there are steps to take when you find abandoned puppies. First and foremost, don't panic. Get these precious babies to a warm and dry location. You'll then want to check them for wounds or illnesses, fleas, and ticks, as well as canine parvovirus and distemper. If you're ever unsure how to check for any of this, or if you just want to be certain, take the dogs to a vet to get a full check-up. You can even ask your local shelter for tips.
