Vet Lists the 6 Most Affectionate Cat Breeds and People Have Opinions

When it comes to cat breeds, there are pros and cons to each. Some may be predisposed to health issues, and others might trigger allergies. At the end of the day, it really is all about finding a cat who vibes with your lifestyle.

As veterinarian and TikToker @amirthevet explained in a recent video, certain cat breeds are known to be more affectionate than others. But here's the thing--not all commenters agree with his choices. What do you think about these most affectionate cat breeds?

Aww--what a great selection of breeds! We certainly aren't vet-level experts when it comes to cats, but we would agree that these breeds tend to be friendly and sweet with the people they love. Of course, kitties of any breed have the potential to be affectionate AF!

As Amir the vet was listing off these breeds, though, we noticed something familiar: A lot of these breeds are also on the list of 2022's most popular cat breeds! The Cat Fancier's Association compiles the list based on their total number of registrations each year, so you know the information is up-to-date.

The Ragdoll cat, which is also the most affectionate cat breed according to Amir, was 2022's most popular cat. The Sphynx, Maine Coon, Scottish Fold, and Persian cat breeds also made the list! Siamese cats may not be the most popular, but it sounds like they also make loving, loyal companions.

In the comment section, though, viewers have a different idea. They can't stop talking about orange cats!

"Dumpster Orange Bois are super affectionate too," wrote @amlyka. You're right! Technically, 'orange' is a cat's fur color and not their breed, but it's definitely a common belief that orange cats are extraverted and friendly.

Are there any other cat breeds you would add to the list?
