Versed Beauty Just Dropped a Clean Acne Line and Everything Is Under $17

Of the many things we looked forward to in adulthood as preteens, a blemish-free complexion was certainly at the top of the list. But it turns out we were full of false hope. Nope, the acne didn’t disappear when we entered our twenties. Or our thirties, for that matter. And after a few decades of learning what works and what definitely doesn’t (we’re looking at you, toothpaste), we’ve realized that acne treatments don’t have to burn or sting, and that they can be gentle, which is key to keeping breakouts under control.

Luckily, so did the pros at Versed, and today the brand launched three new acne products in response to overwhelming request from its fans: Keep the Peace Acne-Calming Cream Cleanser, Game Over Acne Drying Treatment and Back-Up Plan Acne-Control Body Mist, all of which are gentle enough to use daily without making your skin freak out.

“We developed this collection to address acne in all its forms and locations, and to help improve skin’s health instead of inflaming and drying it out,” said Melanie Bender, general manager of Versed in an interview with PureWow. “As with all of our products, it was also non-negotiable to achieve that through the cleanest formulas in drugstore skincare and more sustainable packaging.”

And on the timely topic of maskne, Bender explained that this skincare line addresses all the reasons why face coverings are causing breakouts: “Maskne can come in different forms, so if it’s blackheads, whiteheads or pustules, spot treat with Game Over. Keep the Peace is loaded with anti-inflammatories to help soothe skin and calm irritation left behind by mask friction and the humidity they trap.”

1. Keep the Peace Acne-Calming Cream Cleanser

This creamy light blue cleanser is packed with clarifying blue tansy oil and gentle salicylic acid to sweep away impurities and blemish-causing bacteria without disrupting the skin’s moisture barrier. I.e. you won’t get any stinging, burning or tight-feeling skin you may have experienced with the acne treatment products of your pre-teens. And if you’re concerned about suds, don’t be. Although this is a cream, it lathers really nicely for a squeaky-clean feeling.

2. Game Over Acne Drying Treatment

When you have a stubborn whitehead, soon-to-be whitehead or blackhead, this drying lotion is your saving grace. It’s made with 10 percent sulfur and two types of gentle clays to draw breakouts to the surface and dry them out without irritating the surrounding skin. Bender adds, “It’s also a good preventative measure to use it as a spot treatment on the areas that you usually break out in weekly or hormonally.”

3. Back-Up Plan Acne-Control Body Mist

Fact: Acne can surface anywhere on our body, but many products only focus on the face. What about the other 90 percent of your skin? That’s where this acne-control body mist comes in. It combines tea tree oil, witch hazel and salicylic acid into a 360-degree continuous, non-aerosol spray to zap blemishes in hard-to-reach areas like the back and shoulders. It can also be used to prevent breakouts from popping up, especially in the summer when you’re likely to sweat more.
