Vermilion Advantage to host Spring Cleaning Donation Drive

May 21—It's officially Spring, which means it's time to dust off the cobwebs, let in the fresh air, and declutter the house and garage. But after the rummage sales and the gifts to friends, what to do with the leftovers? The last thing we need is perfectly good items ending up in the landfill.

That's why Vermilion Advantage has partnered with Land of Lincoln Goodwill Industries and Education Personnel Federal Credit Union to host a spring cleaning event on Wednesday and Thursday, May 22 and 23.

There will be two locations open for donation — Land of Lincoln Goodwill, located at 1507 N. Bowman Ave. in Danville, where donations will be accepted in their front parking lot from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and the back parking lot of the EPFCU, located at 101 W. Main St. in Danville, where donations can be dropped off between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If the thrill of keeping your old items out of the landfill isn't enough of a motivator, Goodwill is giving a 20% off shopping coupon to everyone who donates. It can be used at the Land of Lincoln Goodwill location on Bowman Avenue in Danville.

Whether it's clothes and shoes the kids have grown out of, that old curio cabinet you inherited from your Aunt, or books you've given up on reading — Goodwill can help find it a new home.

Land of Lincoln Goodwill has also partnered with Dell Reconnect for electronics recycling, including flat screen TVs, desktop computers, laptops, hard drives, monitors, keyboards, mice, cables, speakers, printers, cell phones, DVD, CD, VHS or Cassette players, radios, and more.

Worried about unloading those heavier items? Fret not! There will be two workers on site to help unload donations and sort items as they go.

All donations will be sold here in Danville, so you'll be lending a helping hand to your neighbors in need.
