Veena Sud To Serve as Showrunner on Amazon MGM Studios The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo Series

Variety has revealed that Emmy-nominated Veena Sud, who has previously served as showrunner on The Killing, will be at the helm of the new series in the works at Amazon MGM Studios based on Stieg Larsson's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

As the first book in the Millennium series, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo follows reporter Mikael Blomkvist, who is hired by wealthy Swedish industrialist Henrik Vanger to solve the 40-year-old murder of Vanger's niece, Harriet. Joining Blomkvist on his dangerous quest for the truth is Lisbeth Salander, an unusual but ingenious investigator whose fragile trust is not easily won.

The series has been in the works for years, as Variety initially dropped the exclusive in May 2020. Originally set to be centred on the character of Lisbeth Salander, placing her in a new setting with new characters and stories, it's unclear whether this is still the plan as Sud comes on board.
