I’ve Tried Over 25 Concealers and This Is the Only One That Covers My Dark Circles

I’ve had dark under-eye circles for as long as I can remember. It doesn’t matter if I get eight hours of sleep or feel fully rested, I always seem to have raccoon eyes each morning when I wake up. While certain eye creams have helped diminish their appearance slightly, the only thing that can cover them in a pinch is a good concealer.

Over the years, I’ve tried tons of different concealers from drugstores and high-end beauty brands alike, but have never found one that I loved enough to continue using until I discovered Smashbox’s Studio Skin Flawless 24 Hour Concealer.

A few months ago, we had our headshots taken at the office, and a makeup artist was brought in to do quick touch-ups. As I sat down in her chair before my photoshoot, I thought it would be the perfect time to catch up on emails on my phone, so I wasn’t really paying attention to what she was doing. That is until I looked at the mirror about halfway through. I was shocked to see that I had no signs of under-eye circles for the first time in my life. I quickly made her stop applying blush and tell me immediately what she used to work this magic.

While I assumed it had to be a special concoction of products only privy to makeup artists, it turns out all she applied was this Smashbox concealer that can be bought at Ulta, Sephora, and even Amazon. As soon as she told me which shade she used, I immediately ordered a tube while I was still sitting there, getting the rest of my makeup done.

The creamy concealer provides up to 24 hours worth of coverage without creasing, flaking, or settling into fine lines or wrinkles. While some concealers are formulated to specifically cover either under-eye circles or blemishes, I can honestly say this one does double duty. Not only does it effortlessly covers the dark-purple bags under my eyes, it also color corrects any red spots or imperfections that I find anywhere else on my face.

It can be easily applied with your fingers or a beauty blender, but I’ve found that it covers my circles best when I blend it with this Laura Mercier Camouflage Brush — another trick I picked up from the makeup artist. I also love that the concealer is vegan, cruelty-free, and dermatologist- and ophthalmologist-tested. Plus, there are thirty buildable shades to choose from, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding your perfect match.

At $25 for a .27-ounce tube, the concealer is definitely on the pricier side, but I’ve found that even the smallest amount can cover up my circles on their darkest days — making it completely worth the price tag in my opinion.
