I’ve Become a Bike Shorts Person Since WFH, and These Ones Are My Favorite

The encouraging expression of something being “just like riding a bike,” has never quite resonated with me on account of I can’t actually ride a bike. Although I’m a front-row devotee at my spin studio multiple times a week, anything that isn’t a stationary bike may as well feel like a unicycle as I navigate forward momentum on balanced wheels. This makes the fact that I’ve been living in bike shorts since social distancing an irony that is not at all lost on me.

I’ve always been a fan of the bike shorts trend, but I would liken it to a distant crush I admired from afar. It was a look I didn’t quite know if I could pull off, perhaps due to my fear of someone calling my bluff. But after all, not everyone who wears Vans can skate and not everyone with a leather jacket hanging in their closet has been on a motorcycle. I decided it was time to face my very irrational fears and get a pair of the Girlfriend Collective bike shorts I’d been eyeing up for weeks.

To tell you I haven’t been wearing them on repeat ever since first slipping them on would be a lie. I already ordered the shorts in more colorways because separating myself from them for their required wash and dry became something I no longer wanted to do. My favorite leggings have finally received a much-needed break since WFH began and I’ve been having fun experimenting with different WFH looks.

Right now, those looks include a sports bra for at-home yoga workouts and an oversized hoodie while I’m posted up on the couch. I still have big plans for my bike shorts once we emerge from social distancing in this newfound relationship. Thoughts of pairing them with blazers or puff-sleeve cropped tops are just some of the outfit ideas I’ve been daydreaming about until that very exciting day comes.

My new go-to bike shorts are eco-friendly and sustainable, too. Like its popular leggings, Girlfriend Collective’s High-Waist Bike Shorts are made with a polyester blend made from recycled water bottles that’s unbelievably soft. What’s more, they’re as comfortable as they are flattering thanks to their high-waist fit and slightly compressive fabric.

While going on a bike ride during quarantine is one activity I’m almost positive I won’t be doing, you can bet I’ll be wearing these comfortable bike shorts on repeat. Keep scrolling to shop the sustainable style in multiple colorways.
