VB councilmember hosts resource fair to highlight mental health and wellness

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Beach City councilmember Michael Berlucchi is set to host a resource fair to highlight mental health on May 22.

The Virginia Beach Helping Our People Excel (HOPE) Mental Health and Wellness Resource Fair aims to share informational resources for mental health and wellness. The event will be held in Building 19 at the Municipal Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

“Nearly all people are touched in some way by the impacts of mental health issues, from young people to adults of all ages,” Berlucchi said. “Whether you are seeking to learn more about services that are available or caring for a relative experiencing mental illness of any kind you’ll want to attend this wellness fair and engage with professionals in the mental health field and learn more about these issues.”

Topics that will be discussed can be found below:

  • Behavioral health or mental health

  • Suicide prevention

  • Counseling

  • Substance use prevention

  • Physical health

  • Mindfulness and meditation
