40 years on the job is impressive!

After 40 years at the same job, it may be a surprise to hear that Vanna White still finds her job exciting.

Whereas many people may find the now ritualistic routine monotonous (or dare we say boring), White admitted to keeping a few tricks up her sleeve that makes every day on set feel special.

"I have a different dress on, we have different puzzles," she told Yahoo! reporters. "So I treat every show like it is brand new, and it's so much fun," she explained.

This year, the show looks brand new, too. Thanks to the addition of a giant LED puzzle board and other specials in celebration of the game show's 40th anniversary on-air.

Aside from the technological upgrades, some parts of the show will remain, like the presence of co-host Pat Sajak and White's iconic dresses and trendy looks–something the hostess said she couldn't be credited with.

"On TV, I'm dressed up glamorous and so forth. But when I go home, I'm in sweats and jeans and tennis shoes — but I'm still the same person on the inside," she told the outlet.

"Through 40 years, we have had many changes. From the big shoulder pads to the skimpy dresses, I've worn it all," she recalled. "The designers send their latest clothes every year and I wear them. So it's really up to them. It's their style and I'm modeling their clothes. So the pressure really isn't on me — I am who I am on TV. When I'm off TV, you're just going to see me in jeans and no makeup."

White joined the show as its hostess in 1982 after she auditioned for the part alongside 200 other applicants. According to the official Wheel of Fortune website, showrunner Merv Griffin chose White because "she turned the letters the best."

Since joining the show, White was honored with her own Hollywood Walk of Fame Star, raised over $2 million for St. Jude's and other charities, was inducted into the NBA Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and appeared in over 7,000 episodes.

Wheel of Fortune airs weeknights at 7 p.m. EST. For broadcast options, check your local listings
