Yesterday, news broke that Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler had broken up after NINE FREAKIN’ YEARS of dating. Which, to be clear, is longer than most celebrity marriages. And just hours after this news upended the internet, Vanessa stepped out onto the red carpet looking flawless for the premiere of her new movie Bad Boys for Life.

In case you’re thirsty for more breakup deets (which you definitely are), Vanessa and Austin apparently didn’t spend the holidays together, which is when split rumors started to crop up across the internets. An Us Weekly source ended up confirming the news, saying, “Vanessa and Austin are officially broken up, and Vanessa has been telling those close to her about their breakup.”
Reminder: These two met on the set of High School Musical while Vanessa was dating Zac Efron, and she was still posting pics of Austin to her IG as recently as Halloween. And back in 2018, Vanessa talked about how strong her ’ship was to Women’s Health, saying, “We both respect, trust, and admire each other. It’s so solid now because I feel strong as an independent woman. I am very self-reliant, but it’s nice to have a best friend you can share victories with as well as losses.”
