Vanessa Hudgens Will Play Three Characters in the Princess Switch Sequel

We’re all familiar with dual roles by now—Phoebe from Friends playing herself and her sister Ursula, one Armie Hammer playing two magnificently big boys in The Social Network—but when’s the last time you heard of one actor playing three roles?

That’s exactly the challenge Vanessa Hudgens has taken on in the upcoming sequel to The Princess Switch, which was announced Wednesday. The Netflix film, which features two identical women getting (you guessed it) switched, will get even more wacky in its second installment. The second film is titled The Princess Switch: Switched Again, and features Hudgens as not only Duchess Margaret and her baker double, Stacy, but also as a new look-alike whom The Hollywood Reporter describes as “party girl Fiona.” Sounds intriguing.

The Princess Switch: Switched Again is set to hit Netflix in 2020, which means we won’t get to curl up in a sea of blankets and devour it in time for this year’s holiday season; luckily, Netflix has a whole slate of other holiday films to gently relax you. (One, The Knight Before Christmas, does, thankfully, feature Vanessa Hudgens—the woman can do it all.)

We might have to wait a while for the latest Princess Switch movie to hit (and even longer for its inevitable follow-up, sure to be named something like The Princess Switch 3: 2 Princess 2 Switch), but it will be worth it. Frankly, I’d watch a whole making-of documentary on exactly how Hudgens managed to play three roles. Get her on Inside the Actors Studio, stat!
