Vanessa Bryant‘s youngest daughter shares a middle name with her late dad, and the moniker has inspired a few nicknames for the little girl.

The mom of four took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of 4-year-old Capri riding a tricycle. Bryant simply captioned the candid shot, “‘Koko Bean’/Mini Bean.” Longtime followers of the family likely cognize the adorable nicknames, but those less familiar with the Bryants may not know that Kobe‘s middle name was Bean — and Capri’s is the same. If you just felt a little pang in your chest, you’re not alone.

Capri isn’t the only Bryant daughter with a personalized nickname. Vanessa’s 7-year-old, Bianka, also answers to “BB,” and 21-year-old Natalia is frequently called “Nani.” Additionally, Vanessa’s late daughter Gianna went by “Gigi” and was known as “Mambacita” in the basketball community, as she was following Kobe’s “Mamba mentality” in her pursuit to become a professional ball player herself.

Living By the Mamba Mentality

The late Lakers player’s girls continue to live by his Mamba philosophy, perhaps even more so in his absence than when he was with us. In fact, Natalia recently opened up about how the mentality helps her navigate her life and Kobe’s legacy in her February cover story with Town & Country Magazine.

“In terms of legacy, my main goal is just to be the best version of me that I possibly can,” Natalia said of how her dad’s life still impacts her. She added, “I just need to know that I have to keep learning, because there’s no finish line. You just have to keep pushing and being the best person you can be and soaking everything up like a sponge… The job’s never done,” the aspiring model concluded.

We have no doubt that the legendary athlete is extraordinarily proud of all of his girls for their resilience and determination to conquer life, especially in the aftermath of their heartbreaking family tragedy.

These stars have vulnerably shared their experiences with grieving the loss of a child.
