  • Scheana Shay, 35, revealed that she recently suffered a miscarriage on her podcast Scheananigans.

  • The Vanderpump Rules star conceived naturally despite having fertility issues.

  • Shay has been open about her fertility journey throughout Vanderpump Rules.

On Friday, Scheana Shay shared some personal news on her podcast, Scheananigans. The Vanderpump Rules star revealed that she recently suffered a miscarriage after learning she was pregnant with boyfriend Brock Davies.

“I have always been an open book, and I’ve always told you everything going on in my life and so many of you have followed me on my fertility journey over the last year and a half and this is a part of it. It’s just a sad part,” Scheana said while holding back tears. “So, a few weeks ago, we found out that I was pregnant.”

Shay, who has been very open about her fertility journey on Vanderpump Rules, did not think she could get pregnant on her own. “My AMH levels, for those of you who know what they are, were 0.28. That’s basically your fertility levels, and that tells you your egg count,” she said. “I have very low ovarian reserve. My doctors said it would be close to impossible to get pregnant on my own.”

The reality star said she did two rounds of egg freezing in January and July, collecting 16 eggs in total. She also went off birth control. Shay planned to go through a third round of freezing her eggs, but then she missed her period and began vomiting, which can be symptoms of pregnancy.

Today’s the day! Bye bye eggs! For me personally, this has been a very easy, painless and awesome experience. Everyone is different I’m sure. I am single and no where near trying to have a baby. So for me- yes, this was an easy process and when i say painless, I’m referring to the needles which i have no problem with. My AMH levels were only at .28 and for my age that’s insanely low. That’s disappointing to find out. It was an awesome experience to see everything that goes into freezing eggs. My doctor highly recommended for me to do this to have a better chance at a healthy baby down the road. I have learned so much about fertility and everything that goes into freezing eggs and IVF. You never know what will happen in life. @scrcivf and @drshahinghadir have been so amazing throughout this entire journey! Thank you to all of my super supportive followers who have been thru this and given me advice. If you are in your late twenties/early 30s and able to afford it, I highly recommend this! We retrieved 12 eggs and only got 9 mature of those, so I am already planning a second round this summer bc the more the merrier and better chance of being viable once fertilized down the road! In no way am I trying to minimize those struggling with infertility by saying this is “easy”. I’m not trying to have a baby right now, so this was an easy decision for me to make and thankfully I’m fortunate enough to be able to afford it. My heart goes out to all of the women struggling with infertility. I could likely be in that boat one day which is why I’m being proactive now with such low AMH levels. I’ve also had numerous women reach out thanking me for sharing this bc if they knew sooner that this was an option, maybe they wouldn’t be struggling with infertility issues. This is MY post about MY journey. Thank you all for following me thru this experience ... ♥️🥚 and to all of the negative and uneducated comments on this post, check out the next episode of @scheananigans where my DOCTOR answers all of the questions men and women need to know.

At first, Shay dismissed her symptoms, thinking she just drank too much. But then, she considered the possibility of being pregnant naturally, which she said would have been a “miracle” given her circumstances. The Vanderpump Rules star took five pregnancy tests, and they all showed the same result: She was pregnant.

“We weren’t even trying, this is a miracle! I’m so happy,” she said of the news. “We were freaking out. We were so excited because we didn’t think it was possible.”

Shay started to tell her family members and celebrate that she was expecting, but then the reality star began “bleeding all weekend, and it wasn’t stopping” when she was around five weeks along. “I just felt off,” she said. She decided to visit her doctor and get some blood work done. That’s when she learned that her HCG (pregnancy hormone) “went up significantly, but it wasn’t doubling or tripling as it should.” She also discovered that her “progesterone dropped significantly.”

She stopped bleeding after going on progesterone pills, but when she went in for an ultrasound, Shay learned she had suffered a miscarriage. “My OB got me in early and did an ultrasounds, and there was no heartbeat. There was nothing progressing, nothing growing inside,” she said while choking up. “Obviously it was devastating.”

“It’s still been a lot to process, because now I’m at home and I’m just waiting to naturally miscarry,” Shay said through tears. “I have to go back to my doctor this week so he can do another ultrasound. Because now I’m just literally sitting here waiting, feeling normal but still treating my body as if I’m pregnant, which is a complete mindf*ck, because I know there’s nothing progressing but there’s still something there and I haven’t passed it yet.”

Despite the heartbreaking experience, Shay is holding on to positives. “Although this one isn’t working out and we don’t know yet what’s exactly going to happen, I know that I was able to get pregnant on my own and that is a miracle,” she said.
