Looks like even Mystic Falls is feeling the pressure of the upcoming presidential election.

While the Vice Presidential Debate aired on October 7, former The Vampire Diaries co-stars Paul Welsey and Matthew Davis had a public Twitter fight after Matthew posted several pro-Mike Pence messages.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, Matthew wrote, "It'd be nice if the moderator would stop interrupting Pence and let him finish his point."

Paul Wesley then responded with, "It would also be nice in Pence answered the question he was originally asked rather than deflecting."

Matthew later quote tweeted Paul's reply with, "Paul likes to vote for criminals and losers, just like he did in 2016. Your opinion on the matter carries little weight as far as I'm concerned. Next."

Soon after, Paul replied with two more messages writing, "You're mistaken! I didn't vote for Trump in 2016! Guys, Alaric drank some vervain. He's losing it."

Matt replied back with a simple "Yawn" and an emoji.

Paul replied back to a fan who said that he isn't a vampire with, "Yea but that stuff is strongggg." And replied back directly to Matt with "Lighten up baby boy u know u miss me."

Matthew then took a hit at Paul's fans saying "Your fans are super class [sic]. You must be proud," along with some screenshots.

Paul defended them by replying, "No buddy - that's low hanging fruit. Why would I be proud/condone that? You're better than that Ernesto. Screen grabbing garbage and tweeting at me won't buy you any points."

He later ended the conversation by tagging Matt and writing, "Love you buddy," which he hasn't liked or responded to yet.

Matthew currently stars in The Vampire Diaries spin-off, Legacies, which is set to come back for its third season. They recently reunited when Paul Wesley returned to direct an episode in the show's second season.
