Valerie Bertinelli is getting real about romance — but not all of her fans are on the same page.

The Food Network star recently caused a stir when she posted a video to her Instagram Story of a woman giving her opinion on why a relationship may dissolve. But when some of her followers sent her messages misunderstanding and disagreeing with the clip, Valerie decided to explain why she felt the need to share the snippet in the first place.

"I seem to have started a little firestorm in my DMs with my previous story. So, let me try and clarify a few things," she said in a follow-up Instagram video posted on January 20. "If I post something and it doesn't resonate with you, that means it's not for you. Don't take it in. Don't take it personally. It's not for you."

The One Day at a Time alum continued: "What she's saying in the post is usually, but not always, not always, a man will leave a relationship for another woman. And usually, but not always, a woman needs to leave to find herself."

Although Valerie's initial post inspired a passionate conversation about the perspective, many fans immediately flocked to her side when she posted her response. Followers shared words of encouragement and empathy in the TV personality's comments section.

"100% I left and found my old self and she was and is a happy strong woman!!" one person wrote. "Thank you Valerie. Going through something very personal and painful similar to what you’re sharing. My goal is to get through it literally one day at a time… ❤️🩹," another replied. "My God, your words hit deep right now. 💜," a different user added.

This is just another instance of the Hot in Cleveland star sharing her emotions with her social media followers. Over the last few months, she's been vocal about the death of late ex-husband Eddie Van Halen and her divorce from ex-husband Tom Vitale.

By the sounds of it, the Kids Baking Championship host doesn't have plans to stop being vulnerable online — and she doesn't expect everyone to stick around.

"So, once again — if I post something, when I post something, and you don't like it, and it doesn't resonate with you, that's OK," she concluded. "It's not for you."
