Valentine stamping has started in Loveland. Here's how to get your valentines remailed.

Volunteer stampers took to their pink and red battle stations Tuesday morning as the first batches of valentines made their way through the Loveland Chamber of Commerce.

For nearly 80 years, the Sweetheart City has been leaning into its name via its decades-old valentine remailing program, which enlists volunteers to mark valentines that come through the city with a Loveland postmark and sweet annual message.

Stamping will take place during the next two weeks, with roughly 100,000 to 125,000 valentines estimated to come through the chamber's stamping station from across the world, Loveland Chamber of Commerce President Mindy McCloughan said Tuesday.

The first valentine of the season ― which was ceremoniously stamped by 2024 Miss Loveland Valentine McKayley Lane ― came from Logan, Utah. As of Tuesday morning, the program had seen valentines from as far as Australia, Germany and Norway.

Want to get a valentine stamped? Here's how it works.

If you're interested in getting your valentine stamped and remailed through Loveland's remailing program, there are a couple of ways to get your cards and letters to the city's fleet of volunteer stampers.

One of the most popular ways is to send your pre-addressed, pre-stamped valentines inside a larger first-class envelope to "United States Postal Service, 446 E. 29th St., Loveland, CO, 80538-9998." From there, your valentine will be removed from its first-class envelope, stamped with a special valentine-themed collector’s stamp and postmark, and sent on its way to its final destination.
