Valentine's Day Beauty Trends That Are Super Popular on Pinterest

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so why not look to Pinterest for some next-level beauty inspo? Here, 7 of the prettiest trends to try this year.

Date night is no longer restricted to classic beauty motifs like a red lip or a voluminous blowout. It's 2018, which means anything goes, and any night out (or in) serves as a solid excuse to try a new beauty look, whether it be simple like dot eyeliner, or a more daring look like blorange hair. If you're looking to try something new this Valentine's Day, the new Kylie Cosmetics Posie K Anniversary Lip Collection (which we just wrote about here) definitely couldn't hurt.

To really help you shake up your look, we turned to Pinterest for its best in Valentine's Day beauty trends, whether you go out, stay in with your friends, or spend the night indulging in some sweet self-love.

1. Gold Lip

Switching your lipstick color may seem easy, but it can totally change your overall look. For instance, swiping a small amount of softly metallic shimmer on the lips instantly imparts a glamorous vibe and practically reeks of romance. Try adding a gold lip gloss over your go-to nude or peachy-pink lipstick (our current favorite is Too Faced Melted Gold Liquified Lip Gloss), or as a topper over a pale pink hue, which gives you that highly coveted rose-gold effect.

2. Braided Topknot

Why not show off your flawless V-Day face beat by throwing your hair into a casual-chic updo like this braided topknot? Take a cue from Lily Collins, whose 2017 Golden Globes hair — a Cinderella-like topknot with braids intricately woven throughout — will go down in history as one of the best princess-esque styles of all time. Here are instructions for how to get it.

3. Rosy Nail Polish

Instead of going the traditional route with bright pink or red, try a softer and less expected shade like mauve. This manicure is super simple to DIY at home (might we suggest a pre-Valentine's Day pamper party with your girls?) and chances are you already have a color that works in your collection. If not, OPI Nail Laqcuer in Dulce de Leche or Deborah Lippmann nail polish in I'm My Own Hero will do the trick.

3. Lip Stains

It's easy to forget to touch up your lip color when you're on a date, but we all know that lipstick performs a disappearing act the more you eat and talk. This year, use a lip stain over a traditional cream formula for a more low-maintenance way to add some color to your look. Not sure where to start? These tints and stains are ones we're constantly rotating in our makeup bags.

4. Matte Eye Makeup

Matte eye makeup has been going strong for quite a few seasons now, and we don't see it going anywhere anytime soon. This year, play with blush pinks and rosy neutrals, or even a fresh peach hue to spice it up. Might we suggest something from Too Faced's new (and already trending) White Peach Eye Shadow Palette? Personally, Peach Suede is calling my name.

5. Half-Up Bun

If you don't want to wear your hair up, go for this casual take on the classic chignon instead. Not only is it a fun and flirty look, but you've also got the best of both worlds: long pieces in front framing your face, while the top of the hair is pulled out of your way (the better to show off your eyes, that is).

6. At-Home Mani

Let's be real: These days, more and more people are skipping the salon and searching for easy nail art ideas they can do themselves at home. Paint on a cute Valentine's Day–inspired manicure for date night, and if your partner mentions it in conversation, you'll know they're a keeper.
