Val Kilmer's Kids Just Posted a Touching Instagram About the 'Top Gun: Maverick' Star

It's been a few weeks since Top Gun: Maverick flew into theaters, and fans are thrilled about finally seeing the sequel to the 1986 film. While the movie does follow Pete "Maverick" Mitchell (Tom Cruise) as he trains new recruits to the Top Gun program (including Miles Teller, Glen Powell and Ace Ellis), viewers were even more excited when they realized that Val Kilmer would be returning as Tom "Iceman" Kazansky.

Now, we know that Val himself was thrilled to be reunited with Tom, as he emailed Entertainment Weekly and said that being on set together "was like no time had passed at all." But there were some special people in the actor's life who were even more excited to see him reprise one of his most iconic roles. Those people come in the form of his kids Mercedes and Jack, who posted about their time on set with their father filming the movie.

"Finally allowed to post these pics from the @topgunmovie set :)," Mercedes captioned a series of photos on Instagram. "Maverick out now."

Judging from the candid pictures Mercedes posted, it looks like she and her brother had a good time hanging out with the cast and crew. The two wore aviator glasses and pilot hats in one photo, and Mercedes even got Jack to pose alongside some extras. But the best pic of the bunch was a sweet moment between father and daughter, snuggled together for an adorable selfie.

With Val going through serious health issues over the last few years, seeing these private moments with his kids is a special thing to witness. And fans clearly felt the same way, since they rushed to Mercedes's Instagram to share their feelings with her.

"Great movie!!! Tell your Papa he is a legend!! Lots of love to you all!! ❤️❤️," one fan affectionately commented. "We all love your dad so much," another replied. "Oh that last photo! ❤️," one more fan wrote.
