Vail's Stevens Pass Announces Opening Day

Stevens Pass, close to Seattle in Washington State, just announced its opening day, thanks to enough natural snow for conditions to be viable to ski and ride on December 12th.

With the second best terrain park in Washington, and a wide array of terrain to satisfy every type of skier, people all over the Pacific Northwest are frothing on this one.

The celebratory Instagram post came with the caption, "the wait is over! Mother Nature gave us what we needed to open, and we’re ready to get our first turns of the season on Tuesday, December 12 from 9am-4pm."

The resort, less than 85 miles from Seattle, sits on the crest of Washington State’s Cascade Range within two national forests, the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest on the west side of the crest and the Wenatchee National Forest on the east.

With 460 inches of snowfall per year on average, and night skiing to boot, Stevens Pass has something on offer for just about everyone.

The chutes and steeps off 7th Heaven are challenging for experts, but the 11% beginner terrain is great for, well, beginners.

Stevens Pass is on the Epic pass, alongside other big name resorts Vail, Breckenridge, Park City, Whistler Blackcomb.

Officials at Stevens Pass wrote, "we are so excited to welcome you back! "

The welcome comes with the lifts Daisy, Brooks, and Skyline.

"Expect early season conditions and limited grooming, so please ski and ride with caution. We'll open additional terrain as conditions allow."

"First chair banner break for the 2023/24 season will be on Brooks!"

Stevens Pass officials also warn people to "consider picking your buddies up on the way up and plan to get here before 9am to secure a parking spot."
