Vail's Legendary Back Bowls Open For The Season

The ski season continues to gain momentum in Colorado.

Today, Vail Mountain, Colorado, announced that it opened its Back Bowls for the first time this season, starting with Sun Down Bowl and Sun Up Bowl.

Vail has yet to open all of its seven Back Bowls this winter.

However, the additional offerings revealed today had skiers stoked in the comments section below the announcement:

"Wow, amazed there's enough snow in the run out!"

"LETS GOOOOOOOO🔥🔥🔥."

"I missed the bowls by a week. I guess I will just have to fly back out there."

To access Sun Down Bowl and Sun Up Bowl, Vail's now spinning the Sun Up Express and High Noon Express.

The Back Bowls are one of Vail Mountain's major selling points for locals and tourists alike, known for providing massive glades and off-piste terrain access.

Vail hasn't shared any additional information about when other Back Bowls, like China and Siberia, might open. Warm temperatures are expected over the next few days at Vail. Despite this, a resort representative stated that Vail is "sitting at right about 100% of average snowfall for the season."

Vail also had Back Bowl offerings by mid-December last winter, with the resort opening the final Back Bowl—Sun Down—by January 2023.
