In a video posted on October 1 a dog owner explained how he came to rescue his dog named Ringo after discovering him in a small village in Italy.

The couple was on vacation in 2022 and claimed that they visited a small town in Italy and discovered a beautiful Brittany hunting dog, malnourished, dehydrated and locked in a cage.

According to the TikTok video posted by @iamchrisjames, the coupe had recently began fostering three abandoned kittens and they were due to head back home, so they did the only thing they could think of, which was to report the poor neglected dog to the local animal shelter.

The couple returned to their vacation spot a year later.. and the poor dog was still in the exact same cage. The couple attempted to locate the dog's owners, asked local animal shelters and the police, and were told there was nothing authorities could o because it was more than likely the dog was just abandoned.

The couple was finally able to rescue the dog and get him out of his cage, where he had been sleeping in his own waste. They brought the dog straight to vet for a checkup and to see if he had a microchip. The couple documents the rest of the video showing the dog, that they named Ringo, on vacation with them throughout Italy and his transformation is just amazing. It's so beautiful to see him finally safe and cared for. The dog returned home to Canada where he is now living his happily ever after.

If you are traveling abroad and you find a neglected dog you are interested in giving a home to, your first step is to contact the local animal control and ask about the protocols they have in place for adopting an abandoned dog or cat. Different countries may have specific requirements, such as quarantine periods or vaccination protocols, that you need to follow.

We are so happy Ringo got his forever family. That's what we wish for every dog. both here in the states and overseas.
