Utah's First Next-Generation Chairlift Nearing Completion

The chairlift of the future is headed to Brighton Resort, Utah.

On September 9th, the resort shared a video documenting the ongoing Crest 6 construction efforts. Once completed, the Crest 6 will be Utah's first Doppelmayr D-Line chairlift.

What's up with these D-Line chairlifts, you ask?

Despite being the first of its kind in Utah, the new Crest 6 is still just a chairlift. It can't do your taxes or act as your therapist. That said, it is quite good at its chosen profession: being a chairlift.

D-Lines are the fastest high-speed detachable lifts Doppelmayr manufactures. The Crest 6 will transport skiers to the top in a breakneck 5.3 minutes with a 2400-person hourly capacity. Plus, the bottom terminal has a huge TV screen and a conveyor loading system, all wrapped up in Doppelmayr's stylish modern packaging.

The Crest 6's predecessor, the Crest four-seater, was installed in 1991. With its replacement, Brighton anticipates having another method for thinning crowds on busy days. The Crest 6 will open during the winter of 2023 and 2024.

Length: 5,777 ft.

Vertical: 1,200 ft.

Uphill Capacity: 2400 skiers per hour
