Utah's Canyons Resort Unveils Ambitious Plans for New Gondola

The Canyons Village at Park City Mountain Resort is looking to enhance its lift capacity with an important upgrade. According to TownLift's report, on June 19th, the Canyons Village Management Association, Inc. (CMVA) made a decision to enter a joint funding agreement for the construction of a modern ten-person gondola.

This gondola is projected to have a length of 6,512 feet and a vertical rise of 1,103 feet. If all the necessary permits are obtained, the new gondola will replace the current Sunrise chairlift, situated near the Pendry Hotel. The existing chairlift only spans a short distance, servicing a few trails, making it unappealing to most guests. The proposed gondola, starting from a similar location, will end near the top terminal of the Red Pine gondola.

The estimated cost of the new gondola is approximately $27 million. To cover the expenses, CMVA is planning to contribute more than $9 million, while Vail Resorts will handle the remaining costs. As for the project timeline, details are yet to be disclosed.
