Utah Resort Remembers Record Snow With Striking Before And After Photos

Folks, everybody's favorite ski resort internet trend is back: before and after pictures that showcase just how wild the snow depth was last winter.

Up next is Deer Valley Resort, Utah, which shared an Instagram post yesterday, August 29th, documenting the burial of a deer statue at the Stag Lodge during January 2023.

As most have heard by now, it didn't stop snowing at Deer Valley in January. The opposite is true: it kept snowing—a lot.

During March 2023, the resort surpassed its previous snowfall record of 484 inches of snow, concluding the season in April with a whopping 606 inches.

Here's what the top of Deer Valley's Bald Eagle Mountain looked like in March versus July.

And this was the junction of Hawkeye, Bandana, and Lost Boulder this summer versus last winter.

All these before and after photos only add to the winter 2023-2024 hype train, which, of course, begs the question, "Will next season be as epic as the last?"

Some forecasters are calling for a warm and dry winter, whereas others, like The Old Farmers' Almanac, think we'll get snowed in again throughout North America—suffice to say, the jury is still out.

My advice? Start those snow dances early.

While fun to check out, these before and after photos are hardly the biggest news of the summer at Deer Valley. On August 24th, the resort announced plans to undergo a staggering 3,700-acre terrain expansion serviced by 16 new lifts and a new 10-passenger gondola.
