Usher’s Age-Defying Skin Care Routine Needs to Be Studied

I’m not the only one who Googled “How old is Usher?” during his highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime show, right? Because “Yeah!” was released 20 years ago, and Usher doesn’t look as if he’s aged a day since.

To answer the question: Usher is 45 years old (and a Libra!), which forced me to take my own age into consideration. Not that 45 is old, obviously: X (formerly known as Twitter), as well as the entire bar I was tuning in from, made it very clear that topless Usher at any age is always a welcome sight.

Shirtless moment aside, the entire experience—especially the roller skates and appearances from Alicia Keys, Lil Jon, H.E.R., and Ludacris—spoke to my inner child. Or perhaps tween? The throwback-filled musical medley was pretty much the unofficial soundtrack of all of my middle school dances. It was a thought many millennials shared as we watched an ageless Usher dominate on the world’s biggest stage.

Needless to say, I’ll take whatever Usher’s having. Fortunately, the superstar has a comprehensive preshow skin care and wellness routine, which he shared with Vogue ahead of his 2023 Las Vegas residency.

“Can I say I’m vain?” he said. “Yeah, because I care about myself, I care about my skin, I care about how I look. This thing I’m preserving [is] for you, you know, for our entertainment.” Thank you for your service, Usher!

To start, Usher uses Acne Expert Skincare Soothing Gentle Cleanser and explains that he prefers gentle yet robust products because he struggled with his skin as a teen. “I went through a great deal of really, really bad acne as a kid,” he said. “I mean, my face broke out so bad, so I had to find something that was simple enough to be able to keep up.”

Usher follows his cleanser with Mario Badescu’s rose-water spray and Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Hydra-Gel Eye Patches.

“This whole purpose and point of taking a moment for you—some people choose to meditate, some people choose to say a prayer—whatever it is, you gotta take care of you in order to be able to take care of anybody else,” he continued, before applying his Acne Expert Skincare Daily C Antioxidant Serum and Calming Moisture Gel.

“It just makes me feel like I’m in a spa,” he said.
