How Usher’s Kids Are Involved in His Super Bowl Halftime Performance

Usher’s kids have helped map out his 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, according to the “Yeah!” singer.

Fans have speculated about who might join Usher onstage ever since the NFL announced last fall he will be this year’s Halftime Show headliner. Alicia Keys, Justin Bieber and Lil Jon are among the artists rumored to join the show. But what about Usher’s four kids?

During a Feb. 8 appearance on CBS’ The Talk, the “My Boo” singer was asked directly if fans will see his sons or daughter join him when his show kicks off this Sunday, Feb. 11.

“They’ll be around,” Usher said of Usher V, 16, Naviyd, 15, Sovereign, 3, and Sire, 2.

When pushed on whether his kids will actively participate in the performance, Usher appeared to reject the idea.

“Maybe for tour. But nah,” he said.

However, his oldest sons have been giving him pointers on which hits they think should be on their father’s setlist.

“I’ve been receiving tons of notes from Naviyd,” Usher said, adding that his oldest son, Usher V, also “gave me a few songs that he felt like I should definitely cut, and songs I should keep.”

The NFL introduced Usher as Super Bowl LVIII’s Halftime Show headliner in September 2023. Months later, the league also announced its list of pregame performers: Reba McEntire will sing the national anthem, Post Malone will sing “America the Beautiful” and Andra Day will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

Usher recently completed a 100-show Las Vegas residency, which started in 2022 and ended in December 2023. He spoke with reverence of the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl so soon after finishing his run in Vegas.

“To have the Super Bowl be the show that I get after 100 sold-out shows here in Las Vegas, you know, it really feels like I had an amazing time here,” Usher said on The Talk. "I have a love that will never die for Las Vegas.”

Usher added that he doesn’t “take it for granted” and has embraced the advice he’s received ahead of his Halftime Show to “smile” and “enjoy the moment.”

Super Bowl LVIII will begin at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium at 6:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 11. The Halftime Show typically begins between 90 minutes and two hours after the game starts.
