This Is Us Star Susan Kelechi Watson Is Engaged to Boyfriend Jaime Lincoln Smith
This is… love. Actress Susan Kelechi Watson, star of NBC’s drama This Is Us, is engaged to boyfriend Jaime Lincoln Smith. The couple took to Instagram to share the happy news over the weekend.
In a selfie, Watson showed off her engagement ring: a cushion cut sapphire stone set on a diamond band. “Forever Ever,” she captioned the image, along with a poem she wrote herself. “‘They’ll say it’s love/And they’ll know its love/For when they call its name/it will answer to love/Without hesitation’~me.”

Watson’s future husband, also an actor who held roles in Law & Order and Grand Theft Auto V, shared the same poem in his own Instagram post, adding, “Future Mrs. Smith,” at the end.
Watson’s This Is Us co-stars were quick to congratulate the couple. Mandy Moore commented on the news, writing, “So happy for you guys, Su!!!!!” Fellow co-star Melanie Liburd added, “So beautiful! So happy for you both.”
While attending New York Fashion Week over the weekend, Moore revealed to E! News that Watson’s post wasn’t a shock to those close to the duo. “We’ve known for a little bit,” she revealed. “It didn’t happen today but I’m so excited for her and her fiancé!” The actress continued, “I can’t wait to hopefully score an invite to the wedding!”
It’s unclear when the notoriously private couple began dating, though they’ve appeared on a few red carpets together in 2019. The pair was most recently seen at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival in April.
