Will the season finale of This Is Us finally put us out of our misery tonight and reveal how Jack Pearson, aka The World's Greatest Dad, died? Judging by a new interview with Milo Ventimiglia, the outlook is... uncertain.

"Maybe, maybe not," Ventimiglia teased on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, as Kimmel asked whether the big answer would be revealed. "Maybe you will... Jack is dead, and everybody['s fascinated with knowing how, and when, and why. The thing that I keep talking about to people is, worry about how he's living, why he's living."

Kimmel interrupted at this point to say what we were all thinking: "This is your way of saying we're not gonna learn anything [in the finale]." Yup. Prepare yourselves for a long hiatus.

Last week's episode ended on an ominous note as Jack, heeding the advice of his teenage daughter Kate, drove off into the night to make amends with Rebecca, who's currently away on tour with her band. Alongside this flashback, present day Kate finally confesses that the reason she can't talk about her father's death is that she feels responsible for it. But why? What happened? TELL US.

During the same interview, Ventimiglia told a story about buying fake IDs in LA as a wayward teenager, which basically proves that he was Jess Mariano in real life. Just try to focus on that joyful reality as the This Is Us finale destroys your spirit this evening.
