'This Is Us' Fans Are Super Concerned About Kate After Tuesday's Episode
This Is Us season 4 episode 2 aired Tuesday night on NBC.
In it, Toby tells Rebecca that he's worried about Kate and that she's been overeating.
In response to the revelation, #ThisIsUs Twitter started expressing concern over Kate and wondered if this was hinting that she may die in the future.
The latest season 4 episode of This Is Us packed a lot of drama in it. But the most heart-stopping moment of all came when Toby and Rebecca broke away from the rest of the Pearsons for a one-on-one conversation.
In Kate and Toby's kitchen, Toby tells Rebecca that of all the things he's worried about Kate "is at the top of his list." After hearing this, This Is Us fans immediately started voicing their concerns. Some even went as far as to predict that this is a sign something bad might happen to Kate in the future while pointing out that a scene from season 3 showed an older Toby without a wedding ring on. Others, threatened to stop watching the show if something did happen to Kate.

So. I have a prediction for #ThisIsUs. I think Kate’s gonna die. Not soon. But sometime before Rebecca. That’s what’s gonna lead to Toby in the bed, sans wedding ring, Randall telling him to come see Rebecca in that fast-forward scene they keep teasing.

As This Is Us fans know, Kate has already been through a lot over the course of the show. She endured a miscarriage in season 2, then, in season 3, she got pregnant and delivered her baby prematurely after getting rushed to the hospital. And now, in season 4, Kate just found out that Jack is visually impaired.
Throughout season 4, Chrissy Metz previously told GoodHousekeeping.com that Kate and Toby will enter a new phase of their relationship as they adjust to being parents.
"We’ve seen a lot at the surface with stuff, and things start to get a little more serious and they realize that it’s not all fun and games," Chrissy explained. "We can’t protect ourselves with humor and sarcasm. We have to really get to the bones of what’s going on with them as individuals and then, of course, as a couple."
Okay, but what about the theory that something terrible might happen? Sadly, it's still a possibility since we have yet to see Kate in the future. Plus, when Jimmy Fallon asked Chrissy about the This Is Us cast filming a couple of scenes for the series finale last fall, she rhetorically asked in reply, "who knows if I was in them?"
Um, WE REALLY HOPE SO. Not sure our hearts can handle another Pearson death after Jack.
