It's not ridiculous that UO is selling this, but we can surely laugh at anyone who would pay $69 for it.
Mid 70's my sister wore one of my dad's old flight jackets (WWII-Korea era) to bar. Some dbag stole it. Then again flight jackets have always had a bit of cachet.
I couldn't wait to get out of my BDUs and into civis at the end of the day, I can not imagine anyone wanting to wear them as a fashion statement.
“I am not sure why they would try and sell a fleece that is clearly army surplus and for a completely insane price."
Umm... to make money. That's what businesses do. The question should be why are there so many people willing to buy into it.
I heard that Urban Outfitters is run by some super-conservatives which is funny considering that they seem to market themselves as a "cool" brand for hipsters and vegan-type people.
Military surplus is great stuff to use and wear while working. i buy all my stuff at surplus stores so it is affordable. If it gets too stained, nasty or torn to wear, toss it. Military pistol belts make great work belts, even comes with holes already punched to hang tools and pouches.
Pair the coat with a flannel shirt and a MAGA hat. MAGAFAWGGITS are too fat and lazy for the military, but like the "idea" of it, so... MAGA! They will spend their welfare money on these items so that they can gobble them like anything resembling food that passes too close to their maws. Of course, you will have to bring it to them because if there is one thing the hate more laws against incest and bestiality, it's walking.
If your into military surplus I recommend shopping at your local surplus store. My 16 year old is crazy about history and military technology (current and historical) he love's a trip to our local surplus store which has piles and piles of uniforms of all kinds for reasonable prices. And you will be supporting local business.
What a stupid article. They are selling them to make a profit. If people are willingly buying them, it would appear to be working. If you think they are making too much money, you are free to buy the surplus items and sell them yourself.
