Prince's fashion and beauty looks were just as influential as his wide vocal range and funky R&B licks. In the beauty space, some of the musician's most popular songs have inspired countless makeup products. NARS, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Too Faced, and Soap & Glory have previously carried eyeliner, lipstick, and nail polish shades named "Purple Rain." And Clinique had a shimmery pink eyeshadow called "Raspberry Beret."
Five years after his death, Prince is finally getting his own makeup collection thanks to Urban Decay. On May 6, the brand announced a limited-edition makeup capsule created in collaboration with The Prince Estate.
"Fearless. Expressive. Transcendent. COMING SOON from Urban Decay x @prince," the brand wrote in the Instagram announcement.
According to a press release provided by Urban Decay, the collection was created closely with key members of Prince's camp, including creative director Trevor Guy, close friend and muse Damaris Lewis, and photographer/director Randee St. Nicholas, who worked with Prince for three decades. St. Nicholas also created the art for the collection's campaign.
"We couldn't possibly imitate someone as legendary as Prince, and to compare him to a palette would diminish who he was. It's easy to say why this collection makes sense on the surface – his makeup looks and our shared love of purple – but we did our best to embody his energy on a deeper level," Urban Decay founding partner Wende Zomnir said in a statement. "We found his ethos of not asking permission to be who he was and owning it so boldly aligned with our values of breaking the mold and championing all forms of beauty."

Urban Decay has yet to reveal the products in the capsule collection, but there's a good chance they're going to be dripping in purple. The collection officially launches on May 27 at urbandecay.com, and you can sign up here for updates.
