This Uranus Retrograde Will Turn Your Attention to Earthly Matters

Uranus retrograde goes down from Saturday, August  15 to Friday, January 1 of 2021. Before you start worrying about texts from exes or frustrating communication problems, the retrograde of Uranus isn't the same as Mercury retrograde and its effects on us will be different. In fact, rather than experiencing weeks of annoyances and irritations, this five-month retrograde has the power to change your life for the better, both on a personal and global scale.

In astrology, Uranus is associated with community, the future, technology, science, and revolution. It rules Aquarius, the humanitarian of the zodiac. This year Uranus goes retrograde in Taurus, a comfortable and grounded earth sign. This means that those with lots of Taurus placements in their charts will be most affected by the retrograde. Because of the nature of this sign, this retrograde will turn your attention to earthly matters, including the need for political and economic change.

Uranus retrograde focuses on the collective and asks you to continue working hard to fight against racism.

There's no use beating around the bush — the theme of Uranus retrograde is essentially adapt or be left in the dust. The pandemic has drastically changed most of our lives. Perhaps you began working from home or your industry shut down for a lengthy time period. The way we interact with each other, including dating and other social interactions, is changed, but these changes are all about protecting each other.

Now, you have a choice. You can put on your mask and find new and innovative ways to connect with loved ones, or you can dig your feet in the dirt and act irresponsibly. Uranus retrograde encourages the former and pushes you out of your comfort zone so that you can more quickly adjust to the times.

On top of the COVID-19 pandemic, the summer of 2020 also brought a heightened awareness to police brutality against Black people. Uranus retrograde focuses on the collective and asks you to continue working hard to fight against racism. Because this retrograde is in luxurious Taurus, it also asks you to carve out plenty of time for self-care. That means deep breathing, taking baths, getting enough sleep, or doing whatever else you need to do to be your best self.

You must be willing to adapt in all aspects of your life.

According to astrology.com, the effects of this Uranus retrograde will be the strongest during the second half of October, when a Mercury retrograde in Scorpio forms an opposition with Uranus retrograde on Monday, October 19. This meeting is followed with a full moon in Taurus on Saturday, October 31 (which is Halloween) that conjoins Uranus. During this time leading up to the election, using your voice to speak out for causes you believe in and vote for those who do the same is important.

Uranus retrograde asks us to expect the unexpected and roll with the punches. Living through a pandemic is already teaching you how quickly life can change, but now you must be willing to adapt in all aspects of your life. That means considering new professional options and ending relationships that no longer serve you. Forget the life plan you mapped out last year. Anything could happen.

You feel the effects of the retrograde again on Monday, December 21, during the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius. It's time for change, and you must look inside yourself to learn what changes you need. What do you want out of life? As political movements ask us to question our role in capitalism, Uranus retrograde asks us what you really want. You are more powerful than you know, and you're bursting with the will power to make a change happen, both on a personal and community level.
