Of Course, Lil' Kim Has the Most Extra Hair at New York Fashion Week

Just when you thought the week was over, Lil' Kim stepped out at Marc Jacobs's Fall 2018 show with her interminable lengths colored a deep turquoise.

If New York Fashion Week has been any indication, the current take on colored hair is defined by slightly washed out tones, innovative color placement, and a blend of unnatural and organic hues. But back in the '90s—the era that has succeeded in inspiring our present tense lean towards all things careless and slightly camp—celebrities opted for dye jobs made memorable by their saturated nature, and those candy-coated notions were spearheaded by none other than Lil' Kim. And it seems the irreverent rapper is back to remind onlookers of that very fact.

The front row at this evening's Marc Jacobs Fall 2018 show saw Kim shaking out a mermaid mane of sea-inspired hues, deep turquoise run through with verdant strands in an aesthetic mimicry of kelp. Her glossy, reflective waves streamed toward waist-level, a deep side part adding an extra kick of drama to the already eye-catching style. Kim, not one for subtlety—need we remind you of the lavender pastie that was matched perfectly to her pin-straight mane at the 1999 VMAS?—opted to top her deep-dive hairstyle with a black and white turban supplemented by florets. Simply add a smoky eye, glossy nude lip, and preternaturally perfect skin, and you have a look that is quintessentially Lil' Kim.
