'Unsolved Mysteries' Is Getting a Netflix Reboot So Prepare to Have Nightmares Forever
Classic television revivals and live-action film remakes seem to have taken over our screens in recent years. Disney has led the charge with new versions of longtime favorites like The Lion King, Aladdin, and Mary Poppins. Netflix has an impressive lineup of reboots as well, with popular series like Fuller House and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Now, the streaming service is adding a new docuseries that will delight true-crime fans. Netflix recently announced that Unsolved Mysteries is getting a 12-episode revival!
"This modern take on the classic series will maintain the chilling feeling viewers loved about the original, while also telling the stories through the lens of a premium Netflix documentary series. Each episode will focus on one mystery and once again will look to viewers to help aid investigators in closing the book on long outstanding cases," Netflix shared in a press release. The company is taking on this refresh alongside the show's original creators and the producers of Netflix original, Stranger Things.
The original Unsolved Mysteries, which was hosted by Robert Stack, ran for 11 seasons and 260 episodes between 1987 and 2010. It chronicled over 1,000 stories of crime, lost love, and missing persons, and received six Emmy nominations-so fans of the classic thriller have a lot to say about the reboot.
Some are offering suggestions on who should host the new show (though Robert Stack is obviously irreplaceable).
For the reboot of #UnsolvedMysteries would it be too much to ask that the host be somebody doing a Robert Stack impression?

.@netflix, I have a pretty deep voice and I look good in a trench coat. Hit me up if you want me to host the new UNSOLVED MYSTERIES.

While others are overwhelmed by nostalgia.
This show was probably 50% responsible for my childhood insomnia. The other 50% was Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. https://t.co/hcY2FYb9Z4

This was my absolute favorite thing to watch when I couldn’t go to school because I was sick. Yes, more of this. https://t.co/riV3kJQBCM

Some of y’all have never had to take the trash out at night after watching #UnsolvedMysteries and it shows.

None of us are ready for the extreme damage that an entirely new season of Unsolved Mysteries, dropped ALL AT ONCE, is going to do to us. https://t.co/uNWesqYRR3

But everyone can agree on one thing: When this series is released, we'll have to cancel ALL of our plans.
