Unseasonably Low Snowfall Forces Another Western Ski Resort To Postpone Opening

Revelstoke Mountain Resort, British Columbia, has delayed its planned opening day.

In a Facebook post shared yesterday, the resort noted that "unseasonably low snowfall" caused the decision.

From the caption:

"Due to unseasonably low snowfall in November, Opening Day at Revelstoke Mountain Resort has been postponed. Our Mountain Operations team continues to assess conditions on a daily basis to prepare accordingly for the opening of our Resort. This is a dynamic situation and one that continues to evolve as weather patterns change. Our intent is to open the Resort as soon as conditions permit, but the safety of our staff and guests will be our top priority."

Initially, Revelstoke planned to open on December 2nd. Now, the resort is aiming for December 9th, weather and conditions permitting.

Such is the story of the North American West at the moment. While some of Revelstoke's compatriots east of the province line near Banff, Alberta, have started spinning their lifts, several other Western resorts like Mount Bachelor, Oregon, and Crystal Mountain, Washington, have postponed winter operations.

The situation isn't completely gloomy at Revelstoke, though. The seven-day forecast calls for snowy conditions later this week, with flurries predicted to arrive on Friday.
