POWER UP: The United Way of New York City will be hosting a fashionable crowd on March 12 at its “Power of Women to Make a Difference” luncheon at the Ziegfeld Ballroom.

The Meteor’s founder and chief executive officer Cindi Leive, who many know from her years helming Condé Nast’s Glamour magazine, will deliver the keynote address. Pix 11 reporter Monica Morales will host the event, which is being sponsored by JP Morgan Chase & Co. Givenchy is serving as the luncheon’s power of the purse sponsor.

The 18th annual gathering will honor Marigay McKee, cofounder and managing partner at Fernbrook Capital Management LLC, as well as PS 179 principal Sherry Font-Williams. McKee will be right at home with the fashion crowd, given her track experience and Fernbrook Capital’s investments in Tory Burch, Violet Grey and Maisonette, among other fashion entities, having worked at Harrods for 14-plus years in senior executive roles, and subsequently serving as president of Saks Fifth Avenue.

Last year King Charles III received McKee at Windsor Castle, giving her an MBE, or Member of the Order of the British Empire. The British-born McKee, who lives in the U.S., was honored at that time for retail services overseas. For more than a decade she has served as a trade ambassador for Great, a British government-backed international marketing campaign that encourages people to visit, do business, invest and study in the U.K.

More recently, prior to cofounding Fernbrook in 2018, McKee was a strategic retail adviser to such clients as Blackstone, Edens, Related and Value Retail. In her current role, McKee sits on the board of Needle & Thread and has a board observer seat at Lily AI. She was on the board of Violet Grey for five years prior to its acquisition by Farfetch, and she also sits on the boards of Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings PLC and the Webster, and is an advisory board member of eShopWorld.
