The New United Club at Newark’s Terminal A Elevates The Traveler Experience Like Never Before

Coinciding with the recent refresh of Newark Liberty International Airport’s (EWR) Terminal A, United’s latest United Club℠ is one of the most modern and elevated lounge experiences to date.

“The new Newark Terminal A United Club℠ builds on our goal of offering customer experiences that are unique and authentic to United and customized to the market,” Alexander Dorow, United Head of Clubs & Lounges tells Robb Report. “This began with the brand new United Club location near C123 (opened in 2022) and now continues with Terminal A.”

Set on the upper concourse across from gate A27, this marks the first lounge to open in Newark’s new state-of-the-art terminal. Featuring an industrial-chic design concept, travelers and United Club℠ Infinite Cardmembers are now invited to enjoy the spacious 15,000 square foot lounge which has been tastefully curated to include a mix of locally sourced artwork, furniture, and modern décor.

“The inspiration is the local environment – embracing an open-air design and creating a neighborhood feel,” Dorow says. “Thoughtful design touches are intended to provide a park-like feel while offering the amenities our customers count on to make their journeys more comfortable.”

Offering floor-to-ceiling windows that provide panoramic views over the tarmac and New York City, at the heart of the sleek new lounge is the full-service bar offering a variety of complimentary and for-purchase drinks including nonalcoholic beverages as well as wine, spirits, and beers on draft.

Drawing from passenger feedback, the lounges seasonally inspired menu includes produce that’s been sourced from local farms in and around New York and New Jersey, as well as a variety of grab and go snacks and a hydration station featuring a Coca-Cola Freestyle Machine, fruit infused water, and other beverages to quench your thirst.

“These amenities include an updated food and beverage program with a full buffet and bar, a variety of communal and private work and lounge spaces, and enhanced technology to support your travel experience,” Dorow said. “Given the convenient location, customers can pop in to grab a quick snack or stay longer to relax or finish work ahead of their flight.”

Showcasing the work of 6 local artists scattered throughout Terminal A, inside the lounge, guests are treated to the colorful world of mixed-media murals including works created by Newark-based artist and professor Dr. Antoinette Ellis-Williams, further adding to the overall ambiance and cheerful aesthetic.

The second of five new United Club℠ locations slated to open this year, with another planned to open near gate C73 in the fall, Dorow says the new lounge at Terminal A offers travelers a peek into the improvements in research and customer and employee feedback that continues to shape the overall traveler experience.

“The new and renovated United Clubs are just one way we’re continuously improving the overall customer experience, in addition to things like United Next, the United app, and new amenities in our first and business class cabins,” Dorow says.
