Unique North Side workshop teaches students art of shoemaking, leather work

CHICAGO — Looking to unplug and feed your creative side? There is a unique place on the Chicago’s North Side that’s doing just that.

The place is Chicago’s School of Shoemaking and Leather Arts. 

The workshop tucked away off Ravenswood and in it, students learn to turn swaths of leather into totes, shoes, belts and anything else they can dream up.

Over the last few years, the numbers of students coming in the door has more than doubled.
