This Uniqlo x Marimekko Puffer Cocoon Coat Looks Like a Work of Art
I have to admit that I really — like REALLY — used to hate puffer coats. I mean, who wants to walk around looking like you're wearing a pile of tires? But that was before brands started transforming the thick, poofy, marshamallow-like jackets into beautiful works of art. That's exactly what Uniqlo and Marimekko did for the second limited-edition collection the brands worked on together.
There are two museum-worthy coats in the collab in varying colors. One is a circle-print bubble jacket and the other is a floral design mixed with stripes and polka dots. Those aren't the only winter staples Uniqlo and Marimekko jazzed up. In the limited-edition collaboration you'll also find playful turtlenecks, tunics, and — you probably guessed it — Heattech.
"We are very excited to introduce our second limited-edition line designed in collaboration with Marimekko, following the success of our spring and summer line," says Yuki Katsuta, head of research and development at Uniqlo. “Uniqlo is known worldwide for its functional and high-quality wardrobe essentials for all," says Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko, president and CEO of Marimekko. "We are very excited to collaborate with Uniqlo for this second limited-edition collection that marries their timeless and universal silhouettes with Marimekko’s bold prints and colors."
Marimekko reached into the archives to put a bold twist on Uniqlo's popular wardrobe essentials, decking them out in retro prints created in 2009, 2007, 1964, and 1956. Uniqlo also introduced some new styles made specially for this collab, including the Ultra-Light Down Cocoon Coat and Wool Cashmere Hoodie.
There's something for just about everyone, especially since the sizes start at XXS and go up to 2XL. And for the first time, the duo is introducing sizes for little girls and babies as well.
The Uniqlo x Marimekko collab also has cozy knit accessories like gloves, hats, and Heattech socks. With prices starting at $7 and maxing out at $130, we can all stay warm (and cute) this winter. But you'll have to wait a few more days to officially start shopping the Uniqlo x Marimekko collaboration. It officially will be available for purchase in all Uniqlo stores and online on November 29.
