After four long years of Trump's Twitter fingers, the official @POTUS, @VP, and @TheWhiteHouse accounts are no longer in the hands of the Trump administration. When President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were sworn into office, they were also given the metaphorical keys to the official White House Twitter accounts.

Soon after taking their oaths, the new President and VP tweeted from the accounts:

At the same time, all of the tweets in Trump's @POTUS account were converted to a @POTUS45 account. This transition is particularly significant considering that during his term in office, Trump used his personal Twitter account to tweet insults to the leader of North Korea, support the QAnon conspiracy theory, and parrot talking points from cable news (Fox New was a particular favorite).

He also used it to rally behind the violent insurrectionists that rioted at the capitol on Jan. 6, saying, "The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!"

As you've read on literally every news platform ever, after his tweets that related to the riot, Twitter "permanently suspended" Trump from the platform "due to the risk of further incitement of violence."

Other official accounts that changed over with the administration include @FLOTUS, which is now in the hands of First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, and @PressSec, which is now controlled by the new White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki.

So! If you blocked the @POTUS account for your sanity, today's the day to hit that unblock button. Or if you're like Chrissy Teigen you can keep hoping...
