That’s a wrap! Season one of HBO Max’s Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin has officially come to an end. A’s identity was finally revealed, there were ~Easter A’ggs~ dropped throughout the series connecting it to the original ABC series, and the season ended with a crazy cliffhanger that left viewers anticipating what’s next.

HBO has officially renewed the hit series, and the show’s cast and crew are excited about the new stories they’ll be able to tell in the upcoming season. Is Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin season 2 happening?

It’s official. HBO Max has confirmed that Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will be back for a second season. Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, announced the big news in a statement obtained by Variety. “We are so proud of the incredible response both critically and from fans that Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin has received,” she said. “Viewers have embraced our new generation of Liars, and Roberto and Lindsay’s brilliantly dark, horror-fueled take on this iconic franchise. Along with Alloy and Warner Bros. Television, we are thrilled to continue the Pretty Little Liars legacy.”

Original Sin co-creators, writers, and executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring shared their thoughts on the show’s renewal. “We are beyond excited to continue telling stories with our amazing group of little liars—exploring their friendships, their romances, their secrets, and their status as scream queens supreme!,” the duo said. “Eternal thanks to the fans who have embraced this new, horror version of Pretty Little Liars—which we’ll be continuing, of course—as well as our partners at HBO Max, Warner Bros. Television, and Alloy Entertainment. As Tabby would say, ‘There’s a sequel in the offing!’”

Does Pretty Little Liars have a new name for season 2?

It sure does. On All Hallow’s Eve, Aguirre-Sacasa revealed the title for season 2 on Instagram. Under a post that depicted a female student, eyes wide open, with a megaphone sticking out of her mouth, the showrunner announced that the sophomore season is named Pretty Little Liars: Summer School.

“Happy Halloween! It may still be October, but it’s not too early to start thinking about summer vacation. Or in the case of Millwood High’s #prettylittleliars…#plloriginalsin #hbomax 🅰️📚🔥🪓🥤🍔🔪🍿💥🌹💃🏽🤡👯♀️👠🌈🌪️🎰🎧🚑⌛️🛢️☠️,” he penned in the caption.

Original Sin co-showrunner Lindsay Calhoon Bring joined in on the fun. She reposted the same image to her Instagram account with the caption, "No tricks, just tre🅰️ts. Happy Halloween, Liars! See you all in…SUMMER SCHOOL! #plloriginalsin #prettylittleliars #pllsummerschool."

The cast also sounded off in the comments, all ecstatic about the impending start of summer. “The kettle is whistling, the TEA is HOT 🔥,” Bailee Madison, who plays Imogen, wrote. Zaria, who stars as Faran Bryant penned, “Karen? Kelly???” Meanwhile, Malia Pyles (Minnie), Maia Reficco (Noa), and Chandler Kinney (Tabby), all wrote an excited exclamation of the word “summer.”

On October 12, 2022, Aguirre-Sacasa posted a photo from the PLL writers’ room with a few cast members. “Always a treat when some little liars stop by the writers’ offices to say HELLOOO, spill the tea, and tell us juicy secrets!,” he wrote, before he teased that the second season of PLL: OS may have a different title. “Season Two of #prettylittleliarsoriginalsin is HAPPENING!!! But is it #pllORIGINALSIN again this year…or something else? 🤫😇🤫🙃💃🏽💥🔪🪓🔪🥤☠️🐈⬛,” he finished.

Even little liar Bailee weighed in on the title change, writing, “The way that this caption has my head SPINNING!!!!!! Even I’m starting to guess now…cAn’t wait!!!!”

Who returns for Pretty Little Liars season 2?

We can expect Bailee Madison, Chandler Kinney, Malia Pyles, Zaria, and Maia Reficco to return to Millwood as Imogen, Tabby, Minnie, Faran, and Noa, respectively.

On November 28, Deadline announced that Jordan Gonzalez, who portrayed Ash Romero in Original Sin, will return as a series regular in the sophomore season. Ash is a transgender student at Millwood High and Minnie’s love interest. On Monday, the actor took to Instagram to also share the news and express his excitement for the impending summer school sesh. “I never was very good at getting my school work finished, guess I’ll have spend some extra time in Summer School,” Jordan wrote. “A massive thank you to everyone who has been on and supported this journey with me. Words will never be enough gratitude. Let the lies continue 🖤🔪🩸.”

What would season 2 be about?

The cast and crew of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is excited about the new season. Everyone, from the show’s leads to its co-showrunners, has opened up about potential plans. Bailee Madison dished to Bustle about how the show could progress in the upcoming season. “The way our first season closes out sets it up perfectly for that [next ‘A’] text message... it sets it up perfectly for the next ride because you know it won’t be the same,” she said.

Original Sin co-showrunner Lindsay Calhoon confirmed to Collider that the show’s creators “do have ideas for moving forward.” According to Calhoon, “We have some pretty fun and exciting story ideas and places for the characters to go after this.” Aguirre-Sacasa agrees. According to Variety, the showrunner revealed that the creators are “talking about” and “brainstorming” plot ideas for season.
