Umm...Does Khloe And Tristan's Body Language Confirm They're Not Going To Make It?
Of all the dramatic relationships that have unfolded in the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Khloé Kardashian’s tumultuous relationship with Tristan Thompson might be the most intense. There was a whirlwind courtship, joyous pregnancy news, multiple affairs with other women WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT, (which he apparently didn’t think was a big deal), a reconciliation, the birth of beautiful baby True...this list goes on.
It’s been wild, even by Kardashian standards. (Just look at how the family themselves reacted when they found out about Tristan's cheating.)
So, where does the couple stand? Only they (and probably KUWTK’s producers) really know the answer to that question. But if the couple’s recent body language is any indication, things don’t look good, according to body language experts.
February: They're leaning toward each other.
At a dinner in Los Angeles when Khloé was still pregnant (and before videos of Tristan with other women surfaced in April), things looked good for the soon-to-be parents. “Their bodies are turned in toward each other, rather than away from each other,” says Terri Orbuch, Ph.D., author of 5 Simple Steps to Take Your Marriage From Good to Great. “It looks like they ‘fit’ each other. They are leaning in toward each other, which means they are interested in being close and bonded.”
March: Khloe is bending one leg.
At Tristan's birthday party in L.A., things looked similarly snuggly between the couple. They’re leaning into each other and looking close, but with a twist. “In this picture, you can see one of Khloé’s legs is bent-a flirtatious pose,” Orbuch says. “Her body language is giving off a sexy, flirty vibe. She is saying, ‘I'm happy with him, and I want to be seen as a sexy, flirty woman.’”
Tristian appears to be digging it, Orbuch says. “Although he is tall and could easily be standing up straight, he is leaning slightly toward her. This represents bonding and closeness on both parts,” she explains. “He is saying, ‘I'm happy and proud with her.’”
March: Khloe is hiding behind Kylie.
A photo from the same night starts to indicate a different dynamic between the couple. While Tristan appears to be giving a speech, Khloé hides behind Kylie Jenner-using her sister almost like a shield. “It’s like there’s a block between them” says Lillian Glass, Ph.D., a body language expert. “It’s a literal barrier that prevents them from getting close.”
July: There's distance between them.
After news of Tristan's cheating broke, the couple was spotted at dinner in L.A. and even though they’re there together, according to the experts, things look…distant. “There is no connection between the two from a body language standpoint,” Glass says. They’re not looking at each other, not leaning in, and both seem to have pretty tense postures. “It’s like two staged props,” Glass says.
July: She's walking in front of him.
In another image from the same evening, the couple’s body language reveals they have no desire to be close. As Khloé strides ahead on her own, Tristan is trailing behind and seems to be veering off in a different direction. “He’s leaning away and keeping his physical distance,” Glass says. “He doesn’t even look at her.”
Translation? “That means that he’s ready for her to go her own way,” Glass says. “And she’s ready, too.”
August: She's holding him with both hands.
Like any dramatic season finale, the last photo of the couple, taken on a night out in August, doesn’t spell a neat and tidy ending-the experts say, it looks like a slow, messy split is in the works.
“In this photo, Tristian is walking ahead of her-although one leg is with her, the other is way ahead of her,” Orbuch says.” His body language in this photo isn’t saying that he’s happy or feeling close to her. “He doesn't have her on his mind at this moment.”
As for Khloé? The fact that she’s behind him (and that they’re not walking in sync), is an indicator that they’re not in sync in the relationship. But the double hand grasp is really telling, according to the experts. “She’s hanging on for dear life,” Glass says. “She’s literally running after him.”
The verdict for the relationship: Based on their body language, it doesn't look good.
