It feels like the onslaught of stories regarding sexual misconduct in Hollywood will never end. People are shocked, shaken, and furious. Actress Uma Thurman falls firmly into the third category, and honestly we feel her. Uma was recently asked about her take on this disturbing series of events. Her response was a perfect example of barely contained rage, and we totally relate.
Uma Thurman has not spoken out about the downfall of Harvey Weinstein since the scandal broke. However, the story obviously hits close to home. Thurman worked with Weinstein’s production company Miramax on a number of films in past years. Most notably, she starred in Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill films, all directed by Quentin Tarantino. But during an event for her new Broadway play, she shared her thoughts on this pervasive and devastating problem.
It is clear in the clip from Access Hollywood that Uma Thurman is choosing her words with exquisite care. More than that, it’s obvious that the subject inspires pure fury in the actress. Still, Thurman first applauded those victims who have spoken out, calling their actions “commendable.”
“I don’t have a tidy soundbite for you,” she says to the camera. And we can totally relate, because when it comes to this topic, our blood also starts boiling. It’s hard to fit everything that we have to say into just a few words.
Uma Thurman is on that same page — and articulates it brilliantly.
She explains to the reporter why she personally has not yet made a statement on the situation. She is obviously restraining herself, and her intensity is downright frightening. Despite her clear rage, she remains eloquent and composed.

“I don’t have a tidy soundbite for you, because I’ve learned — I’m not a child, and I’ve learned that when I’ve spoken in anger I usually regret the way I express myself,” she says. “So I’ve been waiting to feel less angry. And when I’m ready, I’ll say what I have to say.”
