Um, so Sarah Paulson just dropped a bomb about American Horror Story: 1984

Earlier this year, American Horror Story fans were devastated to learn that Sarah Paulson, who has played a major role in nearly every season of the FX series, would not be appearing in the upcoming installment, 1984. It’s hard to imagine the show without Paulson, so it seemed unlikely that last season would be the last time we’d see her in AHS—especially given creator Ryan Murphy‘s love for surprises.

And now, it seems like Paulson may have just let her cameo out of the bag.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival, the actress hinted that she could still make a “pop-up” appearance in 1984.

The comment came after Paulson explained how “bittersweet” it’s been for her to not be involved in the ninth season.

Paulson may not be a series regular on AHS: 1984, but Murphy has cast her in a number of his future projects, including Ratched and Impeachment: American Crime Story. On top of that, she also signed on for FX’s upcoming drama series Mrs. America, which stars Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Uzo Aduba, and James Marsden.

However, despite her busy schedule, she said she’s excited for Season 9 of AHS, adding that she cannot wait to watch and cheer on her former castmates.

“But it’ll be hard,” Paulson said. “I’ll be watching and cheering everybody on. I’m really excited for this season. I think it’s a really cool idea for the show this year.”
