The Ultimate Waco, Texas Bucket List, According To Chip and Joanna Gaines
If you're a fan of HGTV's Fixer Upper it's likely that a visit to Waco, Texas is at the top of your travel bucket list this year. Between staying at the Magnolia House, playing cornhole on the big lawn at Magnolia Market at the Silos and eating cupcakes at Silos Baking Co., we're all dying to go.
Thankfully, Chip and Joanna Gaines know exactly what our plans for 2017 are (Waco, or bust!). In their most recent newsletter, the HGTV stars put together a guide to their favorite places to visit in their beloved town-beyond Magnolia Market, that is.
Here's the list of their top Waco picks:
1. Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum
History buffs will love a visit to this museum dedicated to the Texas Rangers, the oldest state law enforcement agency in America. You'll get to see such infamous items like Bonnie and Clyde's shotguns, which were confiscated from their car after they were killed by Texas Rangers in 1934.
2. Dr. Pepper Museum
Did you know that Dr. Pepper was created in 1885 in Waco? Located in the original bottling plant, this museum is full of fun Dr. Pepper memorabilia and includes an operational soda fountain.
3. Waco Hippodrome Theatre
Just a few blocks away from Magnolia Market is the Waco Hippodrome, which was completely renovated in 2014, turning it into a movie theater showing first-run and classic films. There's a restaurant and bar inside too.
4. Waco Mammoth National Monument
In the last part of the 20th century, the remains of over 15 mammoths were discovered in Waco. Designated a National Monument in 2015, visitors can now view the fossils from a suspended walkway over the dig site.
