Cinco De Mayo is upon us, and the best way for people this far from the border to honor this auspicious Mexican holiday is to eat some good food, but more importantly, drink some good drinks. And what better way to celebrate than to imbibe in the sweet and salty goodness of a margarita.
Cinco de Mayo celebrates the military victory in 1862 of Mexico over Napoleon and his French forces. This day is celebrated in the state of Puebla with quite a bit of fanfare including parades, speeches and battle reenactments. Cinco de Mayo is not to be confused with Mexican Independence Day, which is celebrated on Sept. 16.
